What you’ll achieve
As a Principal Engineering Technologist, you’ll have the opportunity to establish mechanical requirements for product, engineer the product to meet those requirements and validate that the product meets those requirements. This involves working with internal development teams and external suppliers and development partners to develop innovative mechanical solutions for PCs, particularly notebooks, using leading-edge engineering software, tools and processes. Additional responsibilities include ensuring the products meet design targets in areas such as quality, feature set, cost, schedule, reliability, acoustics, regulatory and safety. The mechanical architect will be responsible for mechanical architecture, component and system-level specifications, creating and directing CAD models, interpreting test data, and status reporting for assigned team projects. You’ll also be responsible for driving others, including external suppliers and development partners, to deliver robust mechanical solutions.
You will:
Produce high-fidelity experimental datasets and prototypes
Translate research inputs into clear findings suitable for decision making
Maintain protocols and templates; run quality control (QC) on data integrity and reproducibility
Coordinate with product teams to plan experiments and resolve ambiguities early

Essential Requirements:
8+ years of related experience in a professional role or equivalent experience
Advanced skills in experiment design and analysis; comfort with versioned data and notebooks
Ability to interpret technical specifications; strong attention to detail
Experience organizing datasets and ensuring metadata/usage rights are documented
Clear communication and project management across cross-functional teams
Desirable Requirements:
Master’s degree in Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or related field.
Experience with simulation/modeling tools (e.g., COMSOL, ANSYS) or advanced analytics
Compensation
Dell is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The salary range for this position is $163,200 - $211,200.
