Mō te tūranga | About the Role

We are looking for 2 suitably qualified Technicians to join our team in Te Kuiti.  Reporting to the Team Leader – Electricians, you will be responsible for:

✅Completing scheduled preventative and corrective maintenance on power systems equipment and switchgear
✅Interpreting technical drawings and specifications
✅Wiring and servicing of HV network equipment mainly in Substations and IED’s (Intelligent Electronic Devices) pole top and ground mounted switchgear 
✅Testing, Programming, Reporting, Fault diagnostics of High Voltage and substation equipment and switchgear
✅Secondary wiring (which may include batteries, chargers and protection relays)  
✅Testing of reclosers, HV circuit breakers, power transformers, RMU’s, voltage regulators and protection relays
✅Secondary and primary testing of network protection equipment
✅Display a good understanding or protection schemes used in the electricity distribution industry
✅Carry out setup of SCADA and Comms Systems using IEC protocols like DNP3 and MODBUS

✅Keep up to date with new electrical regulations, standards, and policies and industry advancements

These roles are full time, permanent with normal working hours of 40 hours per week completed Monday to Friday.  You’ll also join the after-hours faults roster (1 in every 4 weeks including weekends). Living locally is essential for fault response.

Your technical skills are only part of the story. We are looking for someone with a great attitude, a sense of humour, and evidence of a strong commitment to Health & Safety. 
 



Skills And Experiences

Mōu - About You
We’re looking for skilled technicians with:

✅ Level 6 Technical Certificate/NZCE or equivalent
✅ EWRB registration and current practising licence
✅ 3+ years’ high voltage industry experience (essential)
✅ Experience working in high voltage substations (essential) 
✅ Strong safety focus, problem-solving skills, and a great attitude
✅ Class 1 full driver’s licence and ability to lift up to 20kg

✅ The ability to quickly learn industry based technology systems
